I just happened to have some time today to record myself cooking champorado. It’s my first recipe that I would share because winter season will be approaching soon. I hope you like it.

Champorado - Chocolate Rice Pudding

This is almost like a version of Hot Chocolate, but Filipino style. Since it has rice, it could be porridge, pudding or gritz.

Course Breakfast
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 10 minutes
Total Time 15 minutes

  • 3 Tablets Cacao Powder (Hershey's Cocoa Powder)
  • Milk
  • Sugar
  • Rice (substitute) Any rice would be good
  • Water

  1. Use any size pot over medium heat, then add water and bring to a boil. Add rice and stir to a few times to avoid burnt rice.

  2. Add cocoa tablet/powder and cook, stirring regularly, until chocolate has melted. After that, continue to cook until the liquid reduces to your preferred consistency.

  3. Almost done, so ladle it into the bowl, pour milk and sugar.

  4. Best serve hot.

Enjoy everyone! Hope you keep this in mind when it gets cold out.

This sounds so good! I assume it works fine with brown rice? (Just chewier maybe?) There’s sugar but I need to get my 3 year old to eat more whole grains and this seems like a good way to mix them into dessert, ha!
